While casually web surfing nearly two years ago I
found a reference to an attempt to be made on the World Record number
of bagpipes in New York - sometime in April 2002.
As an ex-pat Scot living in the US who has always
enjoyed being assaulted by the wave of sound as a mass of pipes
lets rip at the one time I was suitably interested. I put it in
the electronic diary with an alarm set about two months ahead of
the event. In due course sometime in February this year, the alarm
on my computer demanded my attention and I looked up the event.
Clearly it was on!
After
a few seconds of debate with my wife - who was kind of hoping for
a cheap week away to Bermuda - agreed to a show on Broadway Friday
night in return for Saturday being "My Day" in New York.
She got "Cabaret". I got "Scotland the Brave"
at least 500 times!
My contribution to the charities
of the day is this site. I am offering digital images "for
free" - in return for you making a donation to either of the
charities. Please see the gallery page
for details!
The Tunes of Glory
These were the official sets on the day.
If you have a midi equipped sound card (most computers with sound
do) click on the links in the left column to hear them. What you
will hear however depends on the bagpipe samples installed on your
computer! It can be gruesome! For those of you who use Bagpipe Writing
Software - the links on the right will get you the files in bww
format
